Unbelievable, but true!

Hi guys,

My first blog of the year, I thought I'd give you some food for thought:

How does "mechanically separated poultry" sound?

Tasty?

Well for some people, it's a resounding, "YES PLEASE!"

This is a picture that's been doing the rounds on the internet for the last few months,

It's not frozen yoghurt. This is what could be used to make chicken nuggets, hot dogs, or patties. According to the USDA:

“mechanically separated poultry is a paste-like and batter-like poultry product produced by forcing bones, with attached edible tissue, through a sieve or similar device under high pressure to separate bone from the edible tissue."

Good news, people, since 2003 McDonald's will NOT use MSP in their nuggets. In fact, any food supplier must make it clear to the consumer in their labelling that MSP has been used in their product. So you know what you're eating - READ THE LABEL!

Here's the Snopes article discussing fact and fiction on the above picture:

If you click on this link, be sure to watch the Jamie Oliver clip at the bottom, in its' entirety. That's what shocked me about this whole mashed chicken thing.

Whatever your next meal will be, enjoy!
