What are YOUR long-held beliefs? Let's take it back to '07...

The following is an email that I sent out to my dental colleagues waaaay back in June 2007 - 4 years ago! Check this out:

"In lieu of our weekly staff meeting, I asked my team to participate in a little team-building activity.
I asked them to change into some comfortable clothing and to meet me in the little gymnasium we have at our office. To their surprise I entered, dressed in my Hapkido uniform.
The message from today's exercise was: Smash through all your old beliefs, and achieve the unbelievable!
The piece of inch-and-a-half thick pine board was a symbol of what we used to believe. These beliefs may have been given to us by others, but most of all they can hold us back from achieving our own dreams.
First, a demonstration of board breaking from yours truly, set the scene for what was to follow. Some warmup exercises and technique instruction was then given to my team; and on to the smashing!
If this was a Batman episode, you would've seen "Keeerrrash!!!" in big bold letters flashing across your screen three times, as each of the team members bashed through their boards with a well-placed (and I'll add, well-instructed) elbow strike.
The first photo shows our team with our game faces on.

The second photo shows the joy in triumph.

I hope my team learnt something today, but most of all, I think we had some fun."

Aaah 2007!

  • John Howard ran the country; Morris Iemma ran NSW.
  • Happy Feet was big @ the movies; Kath and Kim was huge on TV
  • Number one single was "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie
  • PS 3 was released (which I only bought last month - shows how behind the times I am!)
  • We found out that horses can get the flu as well.
How far have YOU come in 2011? Are you still holding on to stuff you believed in 2007? Let go, smash through!

So how are Kelly Clements, Vanessa Weymark, and Donelle Duff travelling? Let us know - feedback down below...

This is NOT Facebook

But let's talk for a minute, about Facebook.....

Facts:

  1. It is the third biggest "country" in the world; population approaching 700 million
  2. Language - English/Pirate English
  3. Currency - "Likes"
On blogs and other articles, you can find all sorts of interesting facts and statistics on this monster of the internet. Good or bad, it's here to stay; and the people who are on just can't seem to leave. Did you know there is an actual condition known as Facebook Addiction Disorder (FAD)?

And why the heck does a dentist have a Facebook page? Shouldn't I be drilling teeth, rather than posting a status update?!

Hey, no worries, when I'm in the (mouth) zone, I am THERE. You have my undivided attention.

But when we are talking about a nation of 700 million people; I would like my little dental office in Baulkham Hills, NSW, Australia, to be a part of this. From flash mobs to national revolutions, what can DJ Lee - Dentist, be a part of?

Straight out of our mission statement, joining with our professional team can happen through Facebook - particularly since every team member can log in at any time.
Facebook IS a way of life for so many, and if we can impact your life positively via our page, you're welcome!

What you will see on our page are random thoughts throughout the week from the dental team. We can give updates on what's happening in the office; be it technology, offers, people movements, etc.

For deeper explanations and further information, please return here. There is lots more space on this part of the net - that's what we like about the blog.....

Thanks for reading!

How easy is it.....?!

To instantly be more attractive, the single most important thing is to actually SMILE! The action of the muscles in smiling is way more important than the details of teeth, or wrinkles around the face. They say first impressions count, and you'll notice the smile, long before you notice the other stuff. People light up when they smile; anything else can look older or just plain miserable!

Research shows that when a person smiles, their own attitude and mood lifts, and that the person tends to be healthier! Do you think it is a coincidence that most advertising shows pretty people smiling? It lifts the moods of two people- the smile giver and the smile receiver!

So, my blog is about making the decision to smile, and smile frequently. If you don't like your smile, it can be fixed, but it is more important that you are smiling than whether one tooth is off or discolored or anything! If you want to look good, SMILE!

How easy is it for you?
